Exploring the inorganic and organic nitrate aerosol formation regimes at a suburban site on the North China Plain

Nitrate-driven aerosol pollution frequently occurs during winter over the North China Plain (NCP). Extensive studies have focused on inorganic nitrate formation, but few organic nitrates in China, precluding a thorough understanding of nitrogen cycle and formation. Here, (NO3,inorg) (NO3,org) formation regimes under liquid water (ALW) acidity (pH) influences were investigated NCP based data derived from an Aerodyne high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometer (HR-ToF-AMS). The campaign-averaged concentration total was 5.3 ?g m?3, with 13% contribution NO3,org, which exhibited significantly decreased increasing haze episode evolution. diurnal cycles NO3,inorg NO3,org similar, high concentrations nighttime at ALW level, revealing important role aqueous-phase processes. However, correlations between pH (R2 = 0.13, P < 0.01) 0.63, polluted periods indicated contrasting effect Our results provide useful reference for smog chamber promote better via anthropogenic emissions.
